Hi, I'm Kayla.
My journey into professional photography started with my first "real" camera, a 2010 Canon T2i. I eagerly volunteered to photograph community events and anyone willing to be in front of my lens. It was more than practice; it was about seizing those genuine, candid moments that often go unnoticed.
Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From a young age, my simple point-and-shoot camera went everywhere with me, ready to capture the world around me. Be it casual snapshots at family gatherings or just exploring the world, that camera was my constant companion.
Over the years, what began as a hobby evolved profoundly; it became a way to connect. My camera is more than a tool—it’s a way for me to engage with people and tell their stories, capturing real and unique moments, each with its own narrative to cherish.
Even though I spend a lot of time behind the camera, I’m actually quite introverted. Besides photography, I really enjoy the simple, quiet moments at home.
Most of this quiet time is spent with the people I love most—my husband, who's also my best friend, and our two amazing kids. They make every day better and keep me smiling. When I’m not with them, I’m usually lost in a good book, especially fiction. It’s great to escape into different stories and adventures now and then.
I also try to keep a few plants around the house. I’m not the best at gardening, but I like trying to keep them alive! It’s fun and keeps me learning something new.
This side of my life might not always show up in my photographs, but it's a big part of who I am. It influences my work and helps me appreciate all the little moments.
My Philosophy
In my work, I avoid dictating every pose. Instead, I observe and capture the natural interactions that occur when people are just being themselves. This approach not only makes everyone feel more comfortable but also helps me capture those pure expressions and genuine connections that can’t be imitated.
During our sessions, I'll encourage you to relax, have fun, and forget about the camera as much as possible. My goal is to make the experience enjoyable and natural. I believe the best photos are the ones that show natural smiles, casual glances, and spontaneous laughter. I aim to capture your authentic self, and the less we tweak, the more real it feels. These images stand out for their natural feel, without the need for heavy alterations — reflecting life just as it is.
Whether we’re in your backyard, at a special celebration, or simply hanging out at your favorite spot, when I take your photograph, I’m looking to freeze those true, unscripted moments for you to cherish for a lifetime.
I am deeply grateful for every moment I get to capture. Through my lens, I don’t just see art or memories, but a kind of quiet magic that I'm excited to share with you.
